Unit 7: Credit
|
Today in class: We worked in groups to check the profit function handout from last class. Then, we began working on the GRASPS for this unit in which you will write a report to convince potential investors to lend you money for your start-up business. Each group started a business proposal. At the end of class, each group completed a self-assessment and an assessment of their group members' ability to effectively work together. This will be a part of your grade on the GRASPS!
Assignment due next class: Review all of the content in this unit starting with Ch.2.4 (fixed & variable expenses) to make sure you understand how to model your start-up business. |
Day 12: Ch.2.7 - Profit Function
11.5.13
Today in class: We learned how to create the profit function from expense and revenue functions. The ultimate goal for any business is to make a profit, so we determined the price to charge in order to earn a maximum profit. Keep in mind, the price at which a company earns a maximum revenue is usually not the same price where the company makes a maximum profit. Can you explain why this is in your own words?
Assignment due next class: Finish the profit function handout.
Assignment due next class: Finish the profit function handout.
Day 11: Ch.2.6 - Breakeven Points
11.4.13
Today in class: We went through the breakeven points homework worksheet. After today, you should know how to use the quadratic formula to find the breakeven prices and use these prices to determine the revenue and expense amounts at the breakeven points.
Assignment due next class: Complete the Chapter 2.7 guided notes (textbook p. 97-100).

Day 10: Ch.2.5 & 2.6 - Expense & Revenue Functions
10.30.13
Today in class: We worked in groups to review the textbook homework assignment (p. 90 #2-3). Then, we extended what we've been doing with expense and revenue functions to finding breakeven points on the price vs. quantity graph. Find the guided notes for Chapter 2.6 here.
Assignment due next class: Complete the Chapter 2.6 guided notes and breakeven points worksheet.
